Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Education Points: Points are awarded based on the highest level of education completed. For example:
- Doctorate degree: 25 points
- Master’s degree: 23 points
- Bachelor’s degree: 21 points
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate: 19 points
- Language Skills Points: Points are awarded for proficiency in English and/or French. Scores on language tests such as IELTS or CELPIP are used to determine points.
- Maximum 28 points for proficiency in English
- Maximum 24 points for proficiency in French
- Work Experience Points: Points are awarded based on the number of years of full-time work experience in a skilled occupation.
- 1 year: 9 points
- 2-3 years: 11 points
- 4-5 years: 13 points
- 6 or more years: 15 points
- Age Points: Points are awarded based on age at the time of application.
- Under 18: 0 points
- 18-35: Maximum 12 points
- 36: 11 points
- 37: 10 points
- And so on, decreasing by 1 point for each year until 45, after which no points are awarded.
- Arranged Employment Points: Points are awarded if the applicant has a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
- 10 points
- Adaptability Points: Points are awarded for factors such as previous study or work experience in Canada, spouse’s education or language skills, etc.
